This festival has been around for 21 years and it is only a short 20 minute ride for me to Egg Harbor Township, NJ, yet this is the first time that I attended. It is part flea market and part classic car show and there were few offerings for home décor. Its appeal was decidedly for the older male. Vendors offered tools and items for the car mechanic. It was held on the grounds of a retired auto salvage yard and there were not many dogs, baby carriages, children, or young women. The grounds were dusty and lumpy. I brought my camera and if I were braver I would have featured the many men that sported white beards but I am too timid to approach them and ask them to pose. Saw a Corvair-----similar to my first car and a Ford Fairlane---learned to drive stick shift on one of them. Loved the huge classic tractors, the noisy sputtering old engines, and old Ford trucks. Men have to eat so there were plenty of stands offering food. I was surprised that so many people were willing to pay the 8 dollar entrance fee. I wasn't that hungry so I did not buy the 8 dollar brisket sandwich that I heard was quite good.
Hello, Joe. I hope you had a good day.
The people in the neighborhood had to deal with the heavy traffic but they had fun, too. Some lined lawn chairs by the edge of the road and the car show came to them. There was a spot with a sign that encouraged those with a muscle car to burn rubber. They even wanted to engage a Prius because I guess there is a special way to make those hybrids burn rubber. Even the people on the slow drive away were entertained by the antics of those at the side of the road. I got a shot of a funny guy: last photo :)
