The 26th summer Blueberry Festival was held in Hammonton, New Jersey on Sunday, July 1, 2012 in the Hammonton-----The Blueberry Capital of the World. It was a combination of live music, kiddy rides, arts & crafts, a classic car show run by Cruisin’ Classics at the high school grounds. Yes, there were the classic food offerings kicked up a notch and blueberries treats in every shape and form. DJ Nicky G, Beatles Tribute Band-The Rubber Souls and Oldies Duo – Go Get Gone provided the musical entertainment. The heat was difficult to bear but we managed to make a quick run of it all pausing in the shade of tents when we could find it. I was with two of my sisters and we stopped and chatted with the youngest DiMeo farmer from our mother's neighborhood on Middle Road. He was selling blueberry bushes bearing unripe fruit and his display featured a vintage McCormick red tractor. I bought a flat of blueberries for $15 dollars which had been originally priced at $20. The sausage and pepper sub with the refreshing real lemonade went for $10. Probably part of the proceeds went to some non-profit organization.
Caught the juggler when he lost his hat!
