Roadside Views in South Jersey---Route 40.

A while back I went to Delaware to my cousin's house for a graduation party and to see our favorite Uncle Billy. Sometimes when you take the back roads to the Delaware Memorial Bridge you pass through rural areas that remind you of the South.  Most people have an idea of what it is like to be in "Jersey" and it is nothing like what you would see along this route.  The main road to the Delaware Memorial Bridge is route 40.

Dairy farms are still to be found along the route as well Cow Town where real rodeos are still held.  You will feel like you have stepped back in time and that you are in the South---- but you are still in Joisey!

This Richman's Ice Cream store was quite popular in the 60's.  I remember getting a sundae called a Bambrella.  It had vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce, bananas, whipped cream and pecans.  I did not like the other fruits that they have on sundaes.  I always felt that bananas were the best match with chocolate.  Looks like they are selling plants there now.

Please forgive the quality of these shots because most of them were "drive-by" shots from the car window. This is a small haven for stained glass window hangings:

At the beginning of our road trip we stopped and ate at Pete's Diner in Williamstown and I tried to get  a pic of someone I thought was a stranger but my sister Betty knew Ernest Gregori (cousin through marriage) who was about to take off on his Harley.

It was a great day over all but marred by getting lost.  Ok, I am over it now,  but it is not easy getting along with 3 sisters.  One sister was not with us as she now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.  May 20012
