I found more photos so I am updating this blog. South Jersey has lost two racetracks in my lifetime and turned to casino gambling. When you compare the two types of gambling the horse racing is a glaring contrast to the casinos and the slot machines. Although my family has enjoyed both I am sad to say that we abandoned the horse racing in southern New Jersey. The gambling in casinos puts you into vast windowless interior caverns. The pace of losing your money is lightning fast as compared to betting on horse races. When you make a bet on the horses you have to wait maybe more than 25 minutes for the next race and you can study the tip sheets between the races. At the slots you can press that bet button maybe more than 50 times in minute! A simple bet on the horses is only $2. I find it hard to believe that my $2 dollars supports the jockeys, the stables, the horse care, the groomers, landscaping, video-taping of the races and the traveling expenses of the horses. When I make the $2 bet on the slots I am basically paying to sit at a video game in air-conditioned comfort. I definitely do not wait 25 minutes for my next $2 bet. Combining casino gambling with horse racing has saved the horse racing but I hope it is enough to halt the decline of this past time. So I was happy to visit Delaware Park in Delaware twice this summer and I got some great photos and slowed down my gambling losses. I almost did not publish this blog because I had two sets of photos and I lost the first set some how, some way. I probably lost some shots of the horses racing and also the horses lining up at the gate. If I ever find them I will add them into this blog. (And now I found those missing photos):
So the following photos were missing
in action but I found the action photos
of my first visit to the park:
