Chain Saw Day

Took down an old cedar tree and two other trees.  I got the electric chain saw out and my son cut down the big one and I took down the smaller ones.  Got a more versatile lens for my camera so my son and I took some photos.  Later I went to Trump Taj Mahal Casino and had late afternoon meal compliments of my friend.  Her meals are "comped" there.

Mountain Laurel starting to bloom.  The woods around my house was filled with this indigenous shrub until they took much of it down to make roads to the new high school.  I am managing to nurture some small remaining bushes in my yard.
There are quite a few toads around the yard.  Saw one large one early in the day.  Later when it was cooling down I saw a  toad trying to sink into the saw dust and mini-wood chips.  Probably trying to conserve heat.

Rose jumped in the box of winter clothes that was going to store away for the season.

Peter Gabriel Tickets!

Going to a Peter Gabriel concert!  Got some photos of my son at work.  He is the cameraman with the plaid shirt.  It was kind of like find Waldo. I threw a country throw over the massage chair and it is blending in better with the decor.  Saw the same chair for 400 bucks less--oh well.

Massage Chair

Well, the chair kind of ruins the decor but it works well.  It compares well to the more expensive chairs that are found in some malls where you pay by the minute or dollar.  Shiatsu and chiropractic modes and more.  Has leg and foot compression, too.

Blogged Good News Too Soon

Second time I've done this!  Yesterday I was happy just to get a picture on my new Samsung TV but today I want more and I am not so happy.  The picture isn't great--OK so they will say I have to get Comcast over and get the high--def service and box.  But shouldn't I get a high-def picture when I view a movie DVD?  I also thought by purchasing the Home Theater (also by Samsung) that it would come on automatically when watching regular channels and apparently not.  You could some how make the speakers play but it won't necessarily be stereo.  Found this out by going back to Best Buy for the third time.  After spending 1,600 bucks they told me I have to spend an additional 150 bucks to have a "Geek" come out to the house.  And then add the additional charge to Comcast and I am not happy.  Everyone told me how I should get a big screen TV and they were wrong.  I was much happier with the cheapest flat screen TV from the local food store: Shop-Rite--wow---I am dropping a lot of brand names here!  Also, the main specs that were suggested to me were the 1800 refresh thingy and the 160 or 120 megahertz which is what I think I purchased but when I see the properties of the picture it says 60 megahertz on the screen notations.  Also, the sales clerk said that it was best to go with the matching names like Samsung TV with Samsung theater.  I don't think that mattered.  Also, the two wireless speakers in the back of the room are not working! Hope my son can fix these issues but I might have to go for the Geek Squad. The amount of hype for these systems, the time involved and the money that is spent should make me say "wow!" and it just doesn't do anything for me.  Now my John Deere tractor ---now that makes me say "WOW!"  Let you know all about my massage chair--delivery tomorrow.

Blogging is great when you want to scream...

...and there is no one around to hear you.  "Yessss!"  I did it.  I am watching the "This Is It" movie with Michael Jackson.  It took me a week and a half to set up the Samsung Home Theater.  I was thinking about reading the directions but that would have been my last resort.  I went online to You Tube to see if there were any step-by-step directions and there were, but even those were difficult to follow.  So I just kept plugging and unplugging things and grabbing two remote controls, channeling up, pressing enter and what-not.  I even skipped set-up parts and maybe things aren't totally set-up but I am thrilled with the quality of the sound.  Took some photos around the yard as well.

Turn that Old Gold into Cash

Well, I brought the old silverware to be checked out if it were solid silver and it was all silver-plated even though it was not marked as such. But all was not lost.  There were a few pieces of silver jewelry and two old gold rings that were battered and unwearable.   I was surprised to get $130 dollars.  So I am sure that I still have that much still lying around in drawers so I will gather up another collection and cash in.

Gathering up the Old Silver

I was going to go today but I got involved with house keeping chores.  I will not stay home tomorrow--rain or shine.  I will make a trip to the visit Roy but stop at the mall.  I will bring some old silverware to a jewelry store that gives cash for gold and silver.
